NAWBO Continues Relationship with OPEN from American Express
Together: Rising—NAWBO and OPEN from American Express Working for Women Business Owners
(McLean, Va., March 18, 2008)—The National Association of Women Business Owners® (NAWBO®) is pleased to announce that OPEN from American Express® is continuing its support of the organization. OPEN will serve as the NAWBO National Corporate Leadership Circle: 2008 Visionary Partner, NAWBO’s highest tier of corporate sponsorship. Through this alliance, NAWBO and OPEN offer women entrepreneurs the resources and information they need to strategically advance their businesses.
To encourage increased awareness of corporate social responsibility among women business owners, NAWBO will host two teleconferences sponsored by OPEN addressing strategies for incorporating community service and eco-friendly practices into their business plan. OPEN will also help NAWBO go paperless at its 2008 Women’s Business Conference in Phoenix by providing event materials to all attendees electronically on portable USB drives.
NAWBO will also focus its outreach on diverse women business owners through OPEN’s sponsorship of the Membership Diversity Recruitment Award program. Up to five NAWBO chapters will be recognized for their work to recruit women business owners from a diverse range of backgrounds and business types. The winning chapters will receive $1,500 to use for future diversity recruitment initiatives.
“NAWBO is pleased to continue its alliance with OPEN in support of women business owners,” said Lisa K. Hickey, NAWBO’s president and CEO of Douglass Screen Printers. “Thanks to OPEN, NAWBO is able to launch many important initiatives, including our Membership Diversity Recruitment Award program and a special series of teleconferences on corporate social responsibility.”
OPEN will continue to serve as co-underwriter of NAWBO SmartBrief, a twice-weekly e-news summary for women business owners. NAWBO SmartBrief delivers the latest news for business owners via e-mail. Each e-newsletter contains important business news, commentary on hot topics, and information on NAWBO’s upcoming events and programs.
