(McLean, Va., June 18, 2008)—The National Association of Women Business Owners® (NAWBO®) named Charles Gillean, Program Manager, Supplier Diversity, AstraZeneca as it 2008 Chapter Corporate Partner of the Year. This annual award recognizes a person who has fostered the growth and stability of women-owned business through extended support of a NAWBO chapter. Mr. Gillean  accepted the Chapter Corporate Partner of the Year award on June 12 during NAWBO’s 2008 Women’s Business Conference in Phoenix, Ariz.

NAWBO Delaware Chapter President, Cathy Imburgia, nominated Mr. Gillean for this award. In his role as Supplier Diversity Manager at AstraZeneca has shown a commitment to the NAWBO chapters in Delaware, Philadelphia, and South New Jersey.

AstraZeneca has consistently supported NAWBO, both at the grassroots and the high profile levels. Mr. Gillean always takes the initiative to meet as many NAWBO members as possible when attending local and regional program events, and to offer business opportunity referrals and advice to members.

“I am pleased to honor Charles Gillean and AstraZeneca with NAWBO’s 2008 Chapter Corporate Partner of the Year award,” said Cynthia McClain-Hill, 2008-2009 NAWBO President and Managing Partner, Strategic Counsel, in Los Angeles, Calif. “Support from local Corporate Partners such as AstraZeneca allows NAWBO’s chapters to increase their offerings and establish stronger relationships in their communities, improving the growth of women owned businesses.”
