Lodging & Venue Info

Washington DC Community

Washington DC is where history is made. In fact, it was 35 years ago when NAWBO made its own history when it was founded in our nation’s capital—home to the federal government with a diverse mix of government workers, members of Congress from every state, foreign emissaries, lobbyists, petitioners and protestors. As the capital of the world’s wealthiest and most powerful nation, the city also projects a graceful dignity that is captured in its monuments, museums and memorials.  Only a handful of cities in the world rival Washington DC’s rich history and influence and it will be home to the hundreds of women from around the country and the globe who join NAWBO in celebration of our 35th Anniversary and “The Power of One” at the Women’s Business Conference 2010.

Conference Venue

The Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center is the largest building (3.1 million square feet) in Washington, DC, and is owned by the U.S. General Services Administration. As the first and only federal building dedicated to both government and private use, the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center has been mandated by Congress to bring together the country’s best public and private resources to create a national forum for the advancement of trade. In addition, the building houses a premier conference and event center, executive office space, ample meeting and event facilities, dining opportunities and coordinates entertainment and programming. Visit it first online>>

Capitol Hill Networking Reception Venue

Capitol Hill, aside from being a metonym for the United States Congress, is the largest historic residential neighborhood in Washington D.C., stretching easterly in front of the United States Capitol along wide avenues with the “Congress House” on the crest of the hill facing the city. The Cannon House Office Building, completed in 1908, is the oldest congressional office building as well as a significant example of the Beaux Arts style of architecture. It occupies a site south of the Capitol bounded by Independence Avenue, First Street, New Jersey Avenue, and C Street S.E. The reception will be held in the Caucus Room of the Cannon House Office Building.

Capitol Steps Performance
$35/person, plus service fee

The Capitol Steps began as a group of Senate staffers who set out to satirize the very people and places that employed them. In the years that followed, many of the Steps ignored the conventional wisdom (“Don’t quit your day job!”), and although not all of the current members of the Steps are former Capitol Hill staffers, taken together the performers have worked in a total of 18 Congressional offices and represent 62 years of collective House and Senate staff experience.

Tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster online, by phone at 202-397-SEAT or at a Ticketmaster outlet in DC. Tickets are also available at the will-call window inside the Reagan Building starting at 6 p.m. the night of the performance.
