As we strive to put the pandemic in the rearview, the experience underscored the ever-present need to be an adaptable business owner. Women-owned businesses are innovating through technology and taking specific steps to attract and retain talent coming out of the pandemic, while constantly molding themselves and their businesses to meet the needs of customers, clients, and employees. In this incredible panel discussion, our speakers from NAWBO National will discuss how you can create a resilient business despite disruptions, survive any economic slowdown, and ride out the uncertainty.
Jen Earle has had the honor and delight of working with the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) since 2008. Utilizing her institutional knowledge and consistent drive to advancing the mission of NAWBO, Jen has worked collaboratively with National Boards of Directors and past CEO’s to help carry out the Board's vision for the organization and navigate NAWBO to where it is today. Jen brings to the table more than a decade of multi-disciplinary, high-level experience in operational and project management development, support, and execution for a broad range of boards, business groups, entrepreneurs, CEOs and executives. Jen has successfully established operational infrastructures for her clients. She serves at the executive level, working with nonprofit boards, meeting and event strategy and planning, partner outreach and relationship building. She currently serves as the CEO of NAWBO, the Executive Director of the NAWBO Institute, Advisory Member for Enterprising Women Magazine, and served as a Council member for the National Women’s Business Council (NWBC)
Jeanette Armbrust serves on the NAWBO National Institute Board of Directors. Jeanette is originally from the Pasadena, CA area. In 2001 Jeanette was welcomed into the Skyline family when she started up Skyline Exhibits of Central Ohio. After growing that location into an award-winning company, Jeanette sold the company and found herself back in California. She is now the CEO/Certified Executive Leadership Coach of Greenlight Leaders, a leadership development and coaching company.
Jeanette was named one of the 2017 Enterprising Women of the Year by Enterprising Women magazine and the SBA Small Business Woman of the Year. In addition to the NAWBO National board, she also served on the Columbus Chamber Board of Directors and is a member of Executive Women International and WELD. She also is the Co-Founder and Director of the Columbus Young Entrepreneur’s Academy and most recently graduated from the JoAnn Davidson Leadership Institute.
Dr. Janis Shinkawa (aka Dr. Jan) serves on the NAWBO National Board of Directors. Dr. Jan is the Medical Director and Partner of Ohana Pet Hospital, a small animal veterinary general practice established in 2012 by four women veterinarians in Ventura, California. They acquired Santa Paula Animal Clinic in August 2019. Dr. Jan now has collective partnerships in 3 veterinary hospitals.
Dr. Jan has assisted with the creation of the veterinary assistant program at a local Charter College in Oxnard and at the Career Education Center for Ventura County high school students. She and her business partner developed an Associate’s Degree program in Veterinary Technology at Ventura College, a California Community College, which launched in the Spring of 2021.
Prior to attending veterinary school, Dr. Shinkawa was a CPA with Ernst & Young, LLP (EY). She left EY public accounting as a trained manager and business consultant.
Dr. Jan has a passion for creating sustainable business strategies and compassionate management training that enable companies to develop healthy and happy employees. At the end of the day, it’s all for the animals!
