CHICAGO, IL – (July 29, 2019) - The National Association of Women Business Owners Chicago Chapter (NAWBO Chicago) inducted the 2019-20 board of directors and member-elected executive officers at their Annual Meeting and Leadership Installation Reception at McCormick and Schmick’s.

Edie Comminos of Alpha Metals Corp (industrial scrap metal processor) started her term as President on July 1, 2019. She was elected by NAWBO Chicago membership along with President-Elect Elizabeth Colón of Metaphrasis (an interpretation and translation firm). NAWBO Chicago also welcomes three new board members, Laura Barker of BridgePoint Technologies, Deb Dietz of SMB Value Partners and Rupal Patel of Stride Accounting Solutions.

At the Annual Meeting, NAWBO Chicago applauded the accomplishments of Susan Gotham of Gotham Professional Services during her tenure as President.

“A year is a very short amount of time, but during my short tenure I am most proud of the efforts we spearheaded as an entire team to work relentlessly to increase our member engagement but truly listening to what are members are asking for in regard to making the most of their membership,” Gotham said. “Our strong desire and passion to make NAWBO the community for Women Business Owners now drives all of our decision making from a strong visionary standpoint.”

As president Comminos is looking forward to building on the many successes of the previous year and working with President-Elect Colón, who brings extensive experience and Board leadership. For her upcoming term she wants to assist the board in directing efforts toward effective outreach, growing NAWBO Chicago membership, creating relevant content and providing valuable resources and tools for members.

“By addressing these and other issues, we can successfully advocate here in Chicago and D.C. to make sure women business owner’s voices are heard by both sides of the aisle to accomplish greater gender equality and fairness,” Comminos said. “Most importantly, I look forward to celebrating members and their many accomplishments so others will be inspired to continue the journey. We all have our many strengths but we’re stronger together, and I can’t wait to see where we can go.”
