9:30 - 10:15am      Choosing to Rise: From Conflict to Connection presented by Lynda Bishop

Understanding the differences and valuing our own leadership creates more confident, thoughtful and effective leaders. Women have a unique way of leading! While we all know this on a basic level, understanding our capacity to lead and how this shows in the real world can free us to be our best.

Conflict is uncomfortable and challenges all of us. Many times, we can get a clearer picture of how to manage conflict after it has already occurred, but the real skill is being able to do it well as it happens – or better yet, to lead so well that conflict is reduced overall. Together we will discover the tools we need to do and be better.  Strong, smart, conscious women leaders are the fuel for positive change.

In this session, you will discover what your natural leadership looks like – and how you currently are dealing with conflict as it arises. Together we can choose to rise as leaders creating a better world.

10:15 - 11:15am      Morning Leadership Breakout Tracks

Track 1:  Chapter Leadership Tools and Resources
Legitimate Leadership presented by Lisa Kaiser Hickey - Room Icon C

Simon Sinek famously noted “A team is not a group of people who work together, it’s a group of people who trust each other”

The Greenleaf Center on Servant Leadership believes servant leadership is “a way of being in relationship with others…it seeks to involve others in decision making, is strongly based in ethical and caring behavior, and it enhances the personal growth of others while improving the caring and quality of organizational life.” Not surprisingly. Greenleaf’s leadership ideas are also very compatible with the emphasis on personal development as a key to organizational effectiveness found in Stephen Covey’s seven habits and Daniel Goleman’s emotional intelligence concepts.

You’ll learn Greenleaf’s 10 core themes of servant leadership, John Maxwell’s common values of a high-performing team, and how to lead and equip your team using the servant leadership approach. Because it is so important to know yourself AND your team, you’ll learn how to help your team members understand their character strengths and personality traits with a couple of self-administered evaluation tools.

Track 2:  Professional and Personal Leadership Development
Leading from Within:  The Power of Empathetic Management presented by Sophie Wade - Room Icon D

Leadership is in the midst of a major makeover. The identity of an organization is shifting away from the CEO and towards an emphasis on mission, purpose and culture. Elements of control are being willingly transferred from management to employees to increase engagement and productivity. Greater technology-driven transparency is resulting in a flattening of the corporate hierarchy and more peer-based relationships. Inclusive and adaptable mindsets are prevailing to manage accelerated marketplace changes. Empathetic individualized attention is building more productive, trust-based connections and interactions. The enterprise environment is evolving and in order to succeed within it leaders’ styles are changing too.

In this session you will learn:

  • Why and how to develop more empathetic leadership and management styles, empowering and engaging your internal and external workforce;
  • Key reasons and steps for articulating and communicating your mission and culture effectively throughout your business ecosystem;
  • How to build stronger, reciprocal relationships to motivate and manage increasingly diverse and distributed workers, partners, and vendors.

Track 2: Professional and Personal Leadership Development
Today Matters presented by Lisa Hickey - Room Icon D

Discover a roadmap for growing your influence one day at a time, because success is a process rather than an achievement. You will be shown how to concentrate on the day at hand rather than looking in the rearview mirror or gazing too far into the future. You will learn how to adjust your daily routine in order to cultivate healthy habits that will help you win in leadership and in life.  As you work through the handbook, you will come away with a distinct deliverable: Daily goals for daily improvement in their leadership of self.
