Monday, June 18:

6:00-8:00PM - Evening Welcome Reception at Kimpton Palomar Hotel  - Phillips Ballroom, 1st Floor

Tuesday, June 19:

7:00-8:00AM - Breakfast available at Kimpton Palomar - National Ballroom, 2nd Floor

8AM - Depart Kimpton Palomar for the U.S. Capitol in transportation provided

9AM – Group Photos at the U.S. Capitol

Time permitting, we will take a group photo outside the U.S. Capitol (like last year) and then proceed into the U.S. Speaker’s Office and take group photos (no more than 15 in a group please) on the Speaker’s balcony overlooking the National Mall.  This will be a great souvenir of your trip! Please bring ID to enter the U.S. Capitol.

10AM – Meeting with U.S. Senate Small Business Committee Staff - Room: SVC 203-02

After an introduction to the Committee and a review of its jurisdiction and current priorities, we will have the opportunity to break into small groups for more substantive conversation.  You can select your group based on your issues of interest.  Committee staff members will be available to meet on the following issues - International trade and access to other markets; Taxes/access to capital issues; regulations/cybersecurity; government contracting and procurement issues

11AM - 3PM – Lunch and Meetings with Members of Congress and their staffs and the Presidential Administration on Capitol Hill in 2045 Rayburn House Office Building. Speakers to include:

  • Staff from Office of Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi's office
  • Staff from Office of Congresswoman Jackie Speier
  • Staff from the U.S. House Small Business Committee
  • Kathleen McShane, U.S. Small Business Administration
  • Kathryn Wellner, U.S. Department of State
  • Caroline Harris, VP Tax Policy and Economic Development, U.S. Chamber of Commerce
  • Kathy McShane, Assistant U.S. Small Business Adminstrator, Office of Women's Business Ownership

Buffet lunch will be provided.  Speakers to follow and then the final period of time will be dedicated to preparation for the “Meet Your Members” time.  During this period we will provide talking points and other handouts and answer questions regarding how to conduct and what to expect from Member meetings.

3PM – 4PM - NAWBO members “Meet Your Members” time

Use this time to meet with your Members of Congress and/or their staffs.  Talking points on the major issues NAWBO is focusing on will be provided.  

4:30PM – Back in SUV's to return to hotel or taxi/uber/lyft to your destination

Please plan to meet in the horseshow outside the Rayburn House Office Building on Independence Avenue to be picked up by the SUVs to return you to our hotel.
