Lisa Nicholls of Tira! Strategies Combines Mastery of Social Media Platforms with Creativity and Enthusiasm to Help Clients Grow

Social media marketing for businesses was in its infancy when Lisa Nicholls created Tira! Strategies 6 years ago.  Lisa was handling advertising sales for a local newspaper, the Herndon Observer, which used its Facebook business page to further promote advertising clients.  When the paper shut its doors in 2010, Lisa realized that many local businesses didn't understand how to use social media to promote themselves, and decided that she was the perfect person to help them!  Starting out with just Facebook, Lisa quickly mastered other platforms as they became more popular.  Most recently, she has become a self-taught expert in social media paid advertising.  Tira! Strategies has grown over the years and specializes in helping small-to-medium sized businesses increase their visibillity and their social media engagement; grow followers across all platforms; increase website traffic; and increase sales.  Most recently, Lisa was responsible for the social media strategy leading to the inaugural event of TEDxTysons!  Her clients range from small local product-based businesses to non-profits to service-oriented companies in various industries.  Lisa loves being creative and helping businesses grow via social media.  She is an active member of NAWBO Greater DC, as well as the Reston Chamber of Commerce, and just completed a 6-year term as a board member of the Chamber.​

What advice would you give a social media consultant just starting out?  Learn everything you possible can!  This industry changes in a heartbeat and it's important to stay on top of the trends.  Join groups, ask questions, take training classes, investigate, and never stop learning.

How does where you live affect your business?  Washington, DC is such a great place to network!  I network all the time and it's grown my business tremendously.  That's one of the reasons I love NAWBO so much -- the women and the networking opportunities are fantastic!

Favorite Color:  Pink!  It's such a girly color and I'm not really girly, but I adore pink.

Favorite Typeface:  This changes all the time -- I am currently in love with Brusher.

Favorite App:  It's a tie between WordSwag and Adobe Spark.

Favorite Website:  Inc.com -- I find so many great articles for my clients on that site.

Favorite TV Show:  Tie between Gotham and Agents of Shield.

Favorite Books:  I read any type of fiction I can get my hands on.  I just finished the entire Outlander series -- I could barely put my Kindle down!

Favorite Fine Artist:  Monet.  Impressionism resonates with me.

Greatest Strength as a Social Media Consultant:  I'm passionate about what I do, and am great at creating wonderful content that engages.

If You Were Not a Social Media Consultant, What Would You Be?  I'd probably move to a farm and run a farm for rescue dogs.
