Tyson's Corner, Virginia, July 28, 2016 -- The National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) is proud to announce that its National Women's Business Conference, with this year's theme of "Leading the Way," will be held September 18-20, 2016, (with the annual membership meeting on the 18th and the conference on the 19th and 20th) in Columbus, Ohio. Additionally, Bank of America has returned for the fourth consecutive year as presenting sponsor.
As part of NAWBO's network of growing chapters across the United States helping women business owners to connect, learn, advocate, scale and grow to the next level, the NAWBO Greater DC Chapter encourages women entrepreneurs of all ages, geographies and business sectors to invest in themselves this year by participating in this incredible conference experience.
"Owning your own business is a continual work in progress," said NAWBO Greater DC President, Dana Hutson. "In today's world things move fast. I find that the best way to remain relevant is to be engaged. NAWBO's National Women's Business conference is my go to meeting each year for connection, collaboration and solutions to common obstacles faced by anyone running a business in today's fast paced environment."
The 2016 conference will feature an exhibit hall filled with valuable resources and sponsors; plus, breakout sessions on today’s hot topics for women business owners. NAWBO is also excited to feature two world-renowned keynote speakers: Jenn Lim, CEO and CHO (Chief Happiness Officer) of Delivering Happiness (DH), and Tererai Trent, author and founder of Tererai Trent International.
Jenn co-founded DH with Tony Hsieh (CEO of Zappos.com) to inspire science-based happiness, passion and purpose at work, at home and in everyday life. She has been a consultant with Zappos since its start-up days in 2003, and she created the Zappos Culture Book, an embodiment of how companies can use happiness as a business model to increase productivity and profitability. Her experience with Zappos, combined with her development of scientific frameworks for workplace happiness, created the evidence that happier employees = happier customers = successful companies (and meaningful lives). A two-time guest on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Tererai was named by Oprah as her “All-Time Favorite Guest.” She founded Tererai Trent International with both the firm belief that education is the pathway out of poverty and a desire to give back to her community. And her mission is being realized: 11 schools are being built in Zimbabwe and education has been improved for more than 5,000 children so far. The Girl Who Buried Her Dreams in a Can, her latest book, was published in 2015.
“NAWBO is thrilled to bring so many outstanding resources and best practices to Columbus this year,” said NAWBO National CEO Jen Earle. “With innovation, creativity, leadership and much more, women business owners are poised to continue leading the way. At this year’s conference, we’re excited to celebrate and grow the collective strength of the women business owners we serve.”
