Phoenix, AZ, October 29, 2016 --(PR.com)-- The National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) has announced its endorsement of Ann Kirkpatrick in her bid for election as U.S. Senator from Arizona and Kyrsten Sinema in her bid for re-election to Congress from Arizona’s 9th District. “The Phoenix Chapter of NAWBO is supporting these national endorsements,” said Phaedra Earhart, chapter president.

NAWBO National screens candidates for endorsement solely on their history of business ownership or their voting record demonstrating their consistent support of business owners.

“We are pleased to announce our endorsement of Ann Kirkpatrick for Senate,” said Teresa Meares, NAWBO National Board Chair “During her time in Congress, Ann has shown her understanding of the issues facing the business community as well as her willingness to work on a bi-partisan level to make it easier for business owners to start and grow their businesses. We look forward to working with her on the issues that impact our members.”

“As a former small business owner who was once told in high school that 'girls don't go to college,' I am honored to now campaign for the U.S. Senate in support of common-sense solutions that empower women entrepreneurs and business owners in Arizona and across our nation,” said Kirkpatrick. “We must continue our important work to even the playing field for women business owners who create jobs while serving as role models for their communities.”

“During her time in Congress, Kyrsten has shown her understanding of the issues facing small business owners and the contribution they make to this economy as well as her willingness to work with members of both political parties to ensure and expand opportunities for business owners,” said Meares. “NAWBO was founded 41 years ago to advocate on behalf of all women business owners. We are pleased to endorse Kyrsten in her bid for re-election and look forward to working with her.”

“I am proud to earn the endorsement of the National Association of Women Business Owners,” said Sinema. “We work hard every day to find creative, commonsense solutions that help businesses, both large and small, thrive and contribute to the local economy. We'll continue working on both sides of the aisle to support Arizona business owners, cut red tape, and keep our economy growing.”

Additional endorsements will be made by NAWBO prior to the Nov. 8 general election. In 2014, 94 percent of the candidates NAWBO National endorsed were elected.
