NAWBO - New Mexico Calendar

The holidays are stressful, exhausting, and exciting. But for so many people, grief and sadness are heightened during these times. Instead of asking you to purchase a toy donation, or to come out of pocket for the standard holiday charities typically supported during this time of year, we thought - why not get to know each other a bit better while creating handmade cards for the families of the Children’s Grief Center (CGC) of New Mexico?

The CGC provides special support services for children, teens, young adults (ages 5-25) and their caregivers after the death of a loved one. During the school year, we offer peer support groups at our main location in Albuquerque and our satellite location in Rio Rancho. During the summer and holiday months, we offer a variety of short-term services in various locations, including our Camp Corazon. Families are never charged for services and the CGC offers the only service of this kind in Central New Mexico.

During this meeting, NAWBO NM will provide handmade supportive and caring cards that the CGC will hand out during the 2020 school year to their families. This sounds like a heavy topic, and it is. You may not know what to say, and that is OK. We will have experts from the CGC to guide you through what to write and will provide examples/samples. We also want you to have this time with other NAWBO NM members & guests to get to know each other while getting crafty for a good cause. Join us in this time to de-stress and come together.
