Join us on Thursday, May 9th, from 9:30am – 11:30am., as we hear from Imelda Hartley, a mother of 14, domestic violence survivor and owner of Imelda’s Happy Tamales, a company that aims to empower victims of DM.

Laurie Battaglia and Tish Times will sit down for an interview-style program, where we will explore Imelda’s passion for life and her tireless advocacy for human rights, working as ambassador for the United Nations through the USA-UN program.

Imelda will share her extraordinary life story which has brought her full circle into her business today. We promise to leave you inspired and ready to change the world! We will serve a light breakfast, and of course, TAMALES!

Imelda Hartley is from Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico and a graduate of the Seed Spot Social Entrepreneurship Program in 2015. She is an active community leader and journalist, writing articles to empower her community in the Spanish magazine Contacto Total La Revista que Habla.

Imelda’s awards include winning the 2017 Pitch Your Biz contest at the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. She was chosen as the 2016 Best Hispanic Entrepreneur and received Congressional recognition in 2018, honoring her work in the community.

Imelda traveled to Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico in 2016 as a delegate for the City of Phoenix to represent the Trade Tourism and Protocol Mission, which promoted regional cooperation and enhancement of economic opportunities. She is also an advocate and founder of the support group "SOMOS PARENTS", which aims to empower and educate families on their constitutional rights.
