The National Association of Women Business Owners honors Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day each year by celebrating the accomplishments, successes and achievements of women owned businesses. Despite the lingering challenges of the pandemic and less available resources, women are continuing to start businesses and grow their businesses at record levels. America’s 12.3 million women owned businesses are economic powerhouses, generating $1.8 trillion in annual revenue and employing 9.4 million people.
We’re inspired by the progress that women owned businesses continue to make despite ongoing economic uncertainty, but more must be done to support the success of women owned businesses. Earlier this month, NAWBO announced its 2023 policy agenda, which includes calls to define microbusiness at the federal level, increase access to capital and financial literacy, and to address various workforce issues including hiring, retention and paid leave.
Today, NAWBO Chair Elect Lisa Coppola joined members of the women’s business community at the White House for the second annual Women’s Business Summit, where members of the Biden-Harris Administration announced additional and ongoing investments in women entrepreneurs, including an expansion of Women’s Business Centers.
“It was an honor to join my fellow leaders to celebrate the success and progress that women business owners continue to make, and to hear about continued investment in our women entrepreneurs. - Lisa Coppola, NAWBO Chair Elect
