NAWBO® Joins National Cybersecurity Efforts

(Washington, D.C., October 29, 2014) Understanding the importance of cybersecurity, the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) joined the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Stop.Think.Connect.TM Campaign, a national public awareness effort to empower the American public to be more vigilant about practicing safer online behavior.

“As technologies advance and the number of connected devices grows at an exponential rate, so do cyber threats and our need to understand online risks,” said Dr. Phyllis Schneck, Deputy Under Secretary for Cybersecurity at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. “Together, NAWBO and the Stop.Think.Connect. Campaign will increase cybersecurity awareness and promote new tools and initiatives, helping Americans better protect themselves, their families, and their communities online.”

DHS, in partnership with the National Cyber Security Alliance and the Anti-Phishing Working Group, leads the Stop.Think.Connect. Campaign. Over 150 government, nonprofit, and academic institutions and nearly 200 industry partners working with the National Cyber Security Alliance are members of the Campaign.

“We must all work together and remain committed to making the Internet a safe place to do business,” said Darla Beggs, NAWBO National Board Chair. “We are proud to join the Department of Homeland Security’s Stop.Think.Connect. Campaign and participate in their efforts to accomplish this important goal.”
