Janedra Sykes is a certified Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI), organizational development coach, and consultant. She is a partner at Arboreta Group, LLC, a San Diego-based consulting firm serving nonprofits, governments, and businesses, offering strategic planning, training, evaluation, and facilitation services.
Janedra believes that people, organizations, and communities, after some sincere self-reflection, know what is best for them and the direction they want to go. She seeks to understand what motivates people and how they work, then finds the tools and strategies that fit the specific needs that will take them to the next level. She focuses on helping organizations clarify and achieve their vision.
She is thinking about ways organizations can infuse equity, diversity, and inclusion into their day-to-day business decisions. She helps her clients look for practices large and small that can make their organizations more diverse, fair, and inclusive. Often, that comes in the form of EDI plans, business development projects, program design, and just helping the leadership stay on track with coaching.
She has a streak of curiosity that is a mile long. When she is not working, Janedra reads and watches YouTube videos to explore whatever interesting thing crosses her path. Currently, apartment gardening. She is a mother of an adult son who is a fabulous person, a dedicated pet parent (two massively loving Rottweilers), an inconsistent yogi, and a lover of a good meal with friends.
Janedra has a Master of Arts in Nonprofit Leadership and Management from the University of San Diego and a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of California, Los Angeles.
